Worshipping the remover of obstacles - Ganesha

Usually I sketch before starting a new painting. But it was a different story for this one. I was totally blank. I didn’t have any thoughts or color palette in mind and somehow I was not willing to do any sketches and scribbles. I had drawn some shapes with a pencil on canvas. But once I held the brush with Yellow color, thoughts started to flow in mind. I had this spiritual energy within me, telling me to paint my most favorite god ‘Ganesha’.

My two inspirations blended together, Ganesha and Nature. Usually, elephants are the path makers in forests. When an elephant passes through thick woods, a way is created for other animals to follow. In many countries, Lord Ganesha, with an elephant face, is worshipped before starting anything new. It is said he clears the obstacles and paves the way for us to move forward in life. The large elephant head of Lord Ganesha symbolizes wisdom and knowledge.

I love to draw zentangle patterns with doodling pens on paper. But this time it has been more fun to do it on canvas with acrylic colors and brushes. Painting these intricate patterns of nature took me into a meditative phase.
