The Purple sunset
Sometimes small things in life give us the inspiration to create something beautiful. Other day I was chopping purple cabbage for salad along with carrot and corns. And I just loved the riot of colors it created looking like a beautiful sunset. I couldn’t stop thinking about the idea until I decided to make a painting in that color scheme. I had always thought about how beautiful it will be if there was an island in the ocean filled with flower fields. How wonderful it will be to be there and witness the extraordinary sunset colors reflected into calm water. We wouldn’t be human if we didn’t think of taking a little bit of that paradise, home with us. The exact same thought is reflected in the painting. These fishermen have halted on the island in their small boats to pick up some lovely flowers to take home.
The painting is created in mixed/sustainable media. The shapes of waves are inspired by the form of cabbage. I have reused old painted canvas for this painting. The waves are created with packaging papers that usually come along with the furniture. The boats are created with old carton pieces. Old foil pieces and some tissue papers are also used.
